Godshilla Takes to the Streets

LONDON — A monster triceratops held up traffic on the Isle of Wight on Friday night.

The replica beast was spotted in the middle of the high street in Godshill towards the south of the island and swiftly became a celebrity on social media.

The dinosaur is nicknamed Godshilla and belongs to Martin Simpson from Island Gems, who told Isle of Wight County Press it wouldn’t have been an easy thing to place in the road.

“It must have taken five hefty lads to move it,” he said. “It’s great people are talking about it, but I wouldn’t want to encourage anybody to cause a hazard for traffic.”

A number of people posted pics of the dinosaur, speculating that alcohol may have been involved in the decision to move the beast. “That priceless moment when you’re driving home from work at 3 a.m. and the road is blocked by a 20ft Triceratops,” Chris Hollingshead wrote on Facebook. “#godblessbeer.”

“Dinosaur found outside The Taverners pub in Godshill last night,” another wrote. “Beer & high jinx clearly on the menu!”

Baby Polar Bear finally gets a name

How can you not just smile when you watch a real life teddy bear walking around and playing!

The votes have been tallied and the Columbus Zoo’s baby polar bear’s name is officially “Nora”.

Naming the baby bear, which was born on Nov. 6, was no easy task. In order to ease the responsibility, the Zoo set up a vote allowing participants to choose between “Desna,” “Nora,” “Kaya” or “Sakari.” In total, 88,061 votes were cast from 115 different countries.

In the end, however, the name Nora prevailed. It’s a combination of “Nanuq” and “Aurora,” her parents’ names.

Are Chicken Sweaters the Latest Fashion?

A young woman in England is helping chickens to keep warm by knitting them sweaters.

Apparently, battery hens are chickens who have been kept in cages most (if not all) of their life to maximize egg laying.  The living conditions have caused these hens to have a lot fewer feathers.

Nicola Congon has around 30 chickens who were former battery hens (good for her for giving them a good home and a range to run free on), and as the weather is getting colder, the chickens have a hard time acclimating to the cooler temps.

So, Nicole and her mother are knitting little tank top sweaters for their feathered flock.

Very adorable!

Healing in the Community

Today, I was at Rivertowne Family Chiropractic filming some client testimonials.

Dr. Edward Bickmeyer has been my chiropractor for years. Today kicks off his November Fall celebration. Bring in 5 canned goods and get a free spinal exam.   This goes on all month long.  New (and potential) patients have an opportunity to get an exam and get an introduction to chiropractic just for donating food that will go to a local food bank for the holidays.

During a break today, I asked Dr. B if this is a good way for his practice to generate more business. He said he does get some new clients out of it, but he smiled when he told me that it really gets Healing out into the community.

And THAT is what I love about this man and Rivertowne Family Chiropractic — they truly ARE about taking care of clients and helping people to get well and be able to enjoy their lives.  During the testimonials, we heard over and again how special each person feels when they walk in the door of Rivertowne, that the staff truly cares about each of them as a person, not just as a patient.

I love being around people who spread this kind of positive energy into the world, and allow their clients to take that energy back into their lives.

Your Power is Back on!

By the way, if you are having any issues, pain, migraines, etc, November at Rivertowne Family Chiropractic would be a great way to have an exam for the cost of a few cans of food (and tell them Gayle sent you!).
